This online memorial was created in memory of our great friend Thor Hesla who was killed on January 14th, 2008, in an attack by the Taliban in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Warning Re Email Scams - Unfortunately the site's Guestbook seems to have been harvested by scammers and many posters have received inappropriate emails. The most common of these is the so called "Nigerian Scam." I won't go into detail here, but please be on guard for any emails you receive from unknown parties asking for or offering funds. If you get such a message and are unsure as to its authenticity, feel free to forward it to us for review.
One note about this that is either sad or funny, depending on your frame of mind - about 5 years ago when the "Nigerian Scam" was at its peak, it accounted for nearly 15% of that country's GDP. FACEBOOK MEMBERS Thor's many friends in Kosovo have created a "group" within facebook where photos and condolences are also posted. The group is called In memory of our dear friend THOR HESLA. Now, no invite is needed! 
In lieu of flowers the Hesla family asks that donations be made in Thor's name to Doctors Without Borders.
